Planning and organizing Kaleidoscope is all done by volunteers who
donate many hours each year to present our programs at a reasonable cost
to local youth. We begin in October with securing facilities, planning
recruitment of teaching artists, and organizing publicity. The
committee members also write grant proposals and letters to foundations,
local businesses, service clubs and individuals soliciting funds to
support activities and scholarships. Through the winter and spring
activities include arranging transportation, food, and volunteers for
the camps, also arranging noon performances and recreation activities.
Teaching artists are interviewed and hired, and committee members work
with them to provide space, equipment and supplies for the classes. At
camp committee members are there to help the program run smoothly, to
conduct evaluations with teaching artists and campers, and to clean up,
pack up, and put everything away for the next year. Without this group
of dedicated people Kaleidoscope would not be possible.
If you enjoy working with others to put together arts programs for
children, please contact a committee member about volunteering. We are
always happy to welcome new energy!
